Field Trip to Namur: Cooperative Immersion and Sustainable Food Systems

The Walloon capital, a particularly active Fair Trade Town, is opening its doors to IFTTC 2026 participants for a day of hands-on field experiences.

The program begins with an immersive visit to the citizen-led cooperative Ethiquable to gain a better understanding of how North-South fair trade supply chains operate and their impact on producers. Participants then enjoy an eco-friendly lunch at Le Perron de l’Ilon, a restaurant that supports social reintegration.

The afternoon continues with a choice of exploratory tours: an interactive exploration of sustainable food issues at the NID (Namur Intelligente et Durable) on the Esplanade de la Confluence; a visit to MusAfrica to explore the historical ties between Belgium and Central Africa; or a guided walk through the city center to meet local businesses and stakeholders committed to sustainable practices.
